Chunxi Road is both a shopping district and a starting point for several walkable landmarks. We link the IFS climbing panda, Taikoo Li, Daci Temple, Wangping Street and Tangpa Street into an afternoon-to-evening route.
Five stops on foot
- IFS climbing panda
- Take the lift to the seventh-floor roof garden for the panda's face, or photograph the climbing figure from below. The rooftop viewpoint may have a queue.
- Taikoo Li
- Contemporary flagship stores sit alongside grey-brick architecture. We recommend a glasses-free 3D screen near the crossing.
- Daci Temple
- A historic temple embedded in the retail district, with red walls and gaiwan tea. Approximate hours are 09:00–17:00; it is not open around the clock.
- Wangping Street
- Beside the Jin River, with cafés and design shops; we recommend an evening stroll after the lights appear.
- Tangpa Street
- An older creative street with a retro shop wall and independent businesses, sometimes described as one of the world's ‘coolest streets’. Check the source and date of that description rather than treating it as a current award.
Food along the walk
- Xifu Old Hotpot
- We highlight window views towards the IFS panda and 3D screen, freshly prepared tallow broth and face-changing performances. Confirm seating and showtimes.
- Huaxing Street Zili Noodles
- An old-neighbourhood noodle shop recommended for fragrant red-oil noodles with a firm, springy bite and an inexpensive, simple meal.
- Pansunshi
- An old braised-food house, recommended for duck, pork ribs and gizzard in a rich, savoury marinade. It also notes that older local customers make special trips here.
- Daojia Zhang Laozao
- Fermented-rice laozao with brown sugar and soft ciba offers a sweet, refreshing finish after hotpot.
- Jiazhou Ye Popo Boboji
- Red oil is aromatic without feeling heavy, while rattan pepper is fresher; the skewered ingredients absorb a fragrant, numbing broth, making this a convenient cold-skewer snack on the walk.
An afternoon-to-evening city walk
- Afternoon: the panda and screen
- From Chunxi Road metro Exit C or D, start at the IFS seventh-floor panda viewpoint, then look for the 3D screen at street level. We recommend an afternoon start with the whole route on foot into the evening, so wear comfortable shoes. For quieter photographs, come in the morning instead; evenings are better for the illuminated shopping district.
- Dusk: Taikoo Li and Daci Temple
- Walk through Taikoo Li to Daci Temple. Because the temple closes earlier, move it forward if you arrive late rather than assuming evening access.
- Evening: river streets and supper
- Continue to Wangping or Tangpa Street; we recommend Xiangxiang Lane or Jiuyan Bridge for supper and Jin River night views.
Transport, photographs and shopping
- Metro over parking
- Use Chunxi Road station on Line 2 or 3, Exit C or D. IFS has parking, but allow for parking costs and congestion.
- Alternatives to the rooftop queue
- If the rooftop queue is long, photograph the climbing panda from ground level or the 3D screen from across the road. Keep out of traffic and pedestrian flows.
- Compare upstairs gift shops
- We recommend upstairs shops in Chunxi Road Times Square, including floors 21 and 29, for panda goods and local products. Confirm actual shops, floors and shipping terms; the gift guide is kept separately.
